Reflections of Life
Sigifredo Pizaña
Born on December 1, 1991, in Zacatecas, Mexico, I Sigifredo Pizaña developed an early passion for music, receiving my first guitar at the age of 9. Though I accidentally broke it soon after, my love for music endured. At age 11, I moved with my family to Holland, Michigan, where my musical journey expanded. While attending West Middle School, I began taking choir classes, and at 13, a Spanish book on learning to play keyboard, Aprende a Tocar Teclado Facilmente, reignited my passion for music.
In high school, I continued to further my skills by joining both the choir and jazz band, and later, the school’s symphony orchestra. With dedication to learning violin in early morning classes under the mentorship of Mr. Reikow deepened my commitment to music. After graduating high school, my life took an unexpected turn as my family faced deportation, forcing me to leave college and work at equestrian centers to support himself.
Despite these challenges, I moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, and eventually obtained DACA status, which allowed me to pursue a career in real estate while continuing to nurture my musical dreams. Over the years, I have composed and released original music, including my soon debut album, Reflections. The album, a deeply personal collection of works written over the years, reflects on my journey through both painful and joyful moments, culminating in a mature understanding of life.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time riding horses, hiking with my dogs Macke and Kingston Bear (Australian Shepherd and Bernese Mountain Dog), gym, and spending time with friends.
Now studying piano under Leon Matterson, I have mastered complex pieces, including Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in G Minor Opus 23, No. 5. Reflections, set for release soon, embodies my growth as an artist and the culmination of years of dedication to both music and personal growth.
Lastly, I want to thank my parents Jose de Jesus Pizaña, Gloria Estela Hernandez, and my siblings: Juan de Jesus, Adria, and Deisy Nayeli Pizaña for their support through out the years. And also want to thank God for all the great opportunities that have come through the talent He has given me in music.
